Caregiver Training at SSAIL

RUBI Parent Training Program

RUBI is an evidence-based treatment that was designed to decrease challenging behaviors in autistic youth.

“Evidence-based” means that it has been tried and found to work in research studies and with families.

How long is the program and where are sessions held?

The program consists of around 13 weekly 1-hour visits.

RUBI is delivered one-on-one via telehealth, which means you don’t need to leave your home or office to work with your trainer.

We also offer a 1-month follow-up visit after you complete the program.

We will work with you to schedule a regular day and time for your appointments.

What topics does the training cover?

Sessions cover the following topics:

  • Understanding the reasons behind your child’s behavior

  • Implementing effective prevention strategies

  • Teaching and supporting new skills

  • Sustaining skills across time and various settings

The SSAIL Caregiver Training Team is dedicated to culturally responsive and affirming practices. We are committed to using language and approaches that honor neurodiversity, gender, and cultural identities. We practice cultural humility, embracing an ongoing learning process that encourages self-reflection and a willingness to learn from diverse experiences.

To ensure the program's success, it’s essential that you actively engage in learning and practicing these skills, as this commitment is vital for meaningful, lasting impact.

Cost

Your insurance will be billed for each session you attend. We recommend contacting your insurance provider to confirm coverage for this program and to determine any out-of-pocket costs if the full amount is not covered. The procedure code used for parent sessions is 90846 which is “family therapy without patient” or 97156 “Family adaptive behavior treatment guidance”

Families without insurance will have the option to self-pay with a sliding scale starting at $100 an hour.

Who Attends

To maintain consistency, the caregiver(s) involved in treatment should remain constant across appointments. We strongly encourage other caregivers to come to appointments and be involved in the child’s treatment. Your child does not attend the sessions with your trainer.
